Looking for ways to serve?! We have many opportunities. A few are highlighted here with links for where to connect. We are all at HLUMC chasing after the call to serve this year – serving through our vocations, in our families, in our church, in our community. Join us in finding the right opportunity for you – most of all – don’t feel obligated to do ALL of these. Pick out the ones you feel most connection with. Or bring your own ideas to the table!
Room in the Inn (Every Tuesday night December-March)
We are in the process of preparing to host our homeless neighbors again this year during December, January, February and March. We currently need people every Tuesday to help with set up, provide dinners, over night host and take down. You can sign up to help using the book in the back of the sanctuary or use the sign up genius linked above in the heading.
Helping the Youth
What brings our youth to roll out of bed on sunday morning and make it in time for sunday school? Fascinating teachers/leaders? Parents who make them? Inspirational and creative scripture study? NO! It’s great food! Breakfast in the morning is always an incentive. Pastries, donuts, casseroles… As good Methodists know – we must always have food for a church gathering! youth included. You may not be able to help teach or lead the youth program but you can help by bringing easy breakfast items one sunday morning. Just sign up online and bring it (homemade or store bought) with you on your assigned Sunday morning by 9:30am. Thank you for helping build our youth program with a little bit of food! Cleaning Up on Wednesday Evenings
Mr. David and Ms. Sharon are so wonderful to cook for us every wednesday night. They can’t do it all though. Volunteer to help clean up any wednesday you can…wipe down tables, wash dishes, etc…all the usual stuff! See David on Wednesday nights in the kitchen to help.
Urban Ministries can repurpose our old eyeglasses to help out those in need. We have a collection box in the main office. Bring yours in anytime and leave them for the donation.
