Despite the challenges with COVID-19 there will be many ways to serve in 2021. This is an OVERVIEW for some ongoing Missions and a Monthly Mission Project for each Month in the 1st Quarter.

ONGOING: We will continue to support our homeless neighbors through the Roof Above Sandwich Mission and have a Goal of 10,000 sandwiches in 2021 (833 per month).

JANUARY: As the Traditional ROOM IN THE INN is not happening, ROOF ABOVE is in need of donations to support their men’s shelter. They are asking for items such as towels, hats, gloves, undies, and toiletries. Please use the Amazon Wish List for these items to fulfill their needs and ship directly to the shelter.

FEBRUARY: Food insecurities are at an all time high due to unemployment, illnesses related to the Corona Virus. Look for more details on How HLUMC will have a Food Drive to Support Loaves & Fishes Food Pantries in our Community.

WHO: Anyone
WHAT: Food Drive
WHERE: Drop at Church Staff Conference Room
WHY: Food Insecurity is at an All time High during the Pandemic
WHEN: During the day 2/14 – 2/28

MARCH: We will continue to deliver sandwiches once per month for ROOF ABOVE, but HLUMC will provide a meal for all guests at the Shelter on March 31st via Bag Lunches. If you are usually part of our Room in the Inn mission and are looking for a way to support, or you’ve never participated before….there will be a way for each of you to get involved.

Roof Above needs 800+ sandwiches every day. We at HLUMC can help even when we cannot be together! Sign up to make 25 or more sandwiches and bring them to the church Evans Hall on Wednesday January 27th. The sandwiches will be delivered to Roof Above mid-morning on Thursday the 28th. If 25 is too many, just put how many you can do in the comment. Any amount will help!
IF questions contact Bill Horton
Please write the total number of sandwiches you deliver to the church on the outside of your delivery bag to facilitate a quick and accurate count.

Thank you for helping us meet our goal of 10,000 sandwiches delivered in 2021.

HLUMC hosted American Red Cross Blood Drives last year — in June and October. These drives resulted in the donation of more than 50 units of blood in very successful events! AND we had a great time doing it! Let’s step up on behalf of our community AGAIN!

On Tuesday, March 16, HLUMC will host another American Red Cross Blood Drive. We heard that some of you had difficulty getting away from work, so this time we scheduled the event from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. Unless you donated elsewhere this winter, everyone who gave blood in October is eligible to donate again. We would love to have new donors too! Please remember that appointments are required. Click Here — — and enter HLUMC to schedule your appointment.
