Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church offers a creative, multigenerational, diverse style of worship every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. This service features the great hymns of our faith, excellent choral music, passionate & biblical preaching, children, youth, and a talented praise team leading more recent forms of worship.
We find that worship is truly the work of the people in that it feels right and good when we all come together bringing our praise to God. We pray that when you visit you’ll find an atmosphere centered around God and focused in a way that will allow you to encounter all that is true and Holy. Come join us!
Some things you might want to know when you come…
* Sunday morning worship starts at 10:30 am – with gathering music a few minutes beforehand.
* Childcare is provided by well trained and background checked adults and youth in our education building. See any usher to help show you the way there. Babies and children are welcome in the nursery or in worship. We love the sounds of children as we all come to worship together.
* You are welcome to dress however you feel comfortable to worship. Many of our members dress with a casual business kind of attire – polos and khakis but you’ll also see jeans, flip flops in the summer, and dressier clothes on bigger holidays. We’ll accept you any way you’d like to dress because God loves us all the same!
*At Hawthorne Lane UMC we first value worshipping together. During this season of Covid we are ever cautious about taking care of our families and creating a safe place and multiple opportunities for worship. Currently (as of August 2021) we are meeting in person for worship as well as online. If you come to in-person worship we ask that you wear a mask. We are committed to the 3 general rules that our founder John Wesley was passionate about – Do Good, Do No Harm, Stay in Love with God! As we commit to “Do no harm” we will wear our mask for all inside gatherings until it’s safer to take them off. It’s a simple thing we can do to protect the most vulnerable – esp our children who have not been able to be vaccinated yet.
*Coffee in the lounge before and after. Hang out on Sunday mornings after you’ve dropped the kids in Sunday School or Nursery. You’re invited to stop by the Lounge across from Evans Hall before and after worship (9:00-10:20 or after service) for a cup a coffee, tea or hot cocoa along with pastries and conversation with the others.
For the KIDS!
We offer nursery by trained and educated nursery workers. All of our nursery workers are paid, background checked, and most have CPR training. We follow the rules of our “Safe Sanctuary” policy to keep our kids safe. Children must be checked in through our check in system and only the parent/guardian with the check out information is allowed to pick up a child after worship is over. Our nursery area is located in the same area as our 5-star preschool and the doors are secured to keep the children and workers safe. Nursery is offered during worship for babies through kindergarten age children.
Worship501 – our 1st through 5th graders are invited to participate in a kid centered and led worship experience with Ms. Lizanne every Sunday except communion Sundays (the first of each month). Kids come to the first part of “big” worship and then get to head down the hall for their own worship – reading scripture, videos of the stories, fun worship songs, and more. Learning about Jesus and faith is so important that we want each of our age groups to do it in a way that connects them the best! Come see what all the hype is about in kids Worship501!
