At Hawthorne Lane we have an incredible kids and youth music program. Our kids are invited to participate in choir as young as 3 years old and we have choirs for all ages through 12th grade. We also have a 2 octave youth handbell choir for ages 4th-12th grade. At HLUMC we work hard to offer a choir program that builds singers, musicians and worship leaders from the wee ones to the oldest adults. We believe God has called us all to sing and lift up our voices in praise and thanksgiving each and everyday. We teach that all children are given a voice with which to honor God and with the right tools and practice can make music that is beautiful together. We will do all we can to involve all children no matter what their experience or ability level may be. Our teachers are well-educated and gifted not only in music but teaching music through worship and praise.
Come join us this year for our 2019-2020 theme: Serve God, Serve Neighbor Theme Scripture: “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Children do not have to be members of the church to participate although there will be 3 performances during the Sunday morning worship service each semester. To help cover our costs that go beyond the budget of HLUMC there is a $50 activity fee for kids music. This helps cover all the music, activities, and the teeshirt too! (If this poses any financial difficulty just let us know—we want your child to participate!) The kids & youth will wear choir T-shirts for performances. We’ll need to know your child’s size but the cost of the shirt is covered in the activity fee.
