Sunday Morning Worship. Current Theme: Is There Any Word from the Lord: Fighting Words Giving Way to Faithful Conversations Words create. Words destroy. Words wound. Words heal. Our world is inundated with words, and almost any word you choose—privilege, mask, immigrant—can become a fighting word, a dividing word, a bridge-burning word. But is there any word from the Lord? Amidst all the punditry and posturing, is there a word that can heal what has been wounded, or recreate what has been destroyed? Who desires to listen beyond the trigger so as to hear, or speak, the peacemaking word from God? This season we will be studying and listening for the Word of God to guide us as we approach the complicated challenging issues facing us in the world today. Jeremiah asks “Is there any Word from the Lord?” and so we ask the same. What does the Bible/God/Jesus say about these issues? What does the United Methodist Church say? And how does each inform your thinking, speaking, action? We at HLUMC will not be telling anyone how to believe…or vote…or forcing our opinions on one another. What we are after is hearing the word of peace, of healing, of love as we struggle with these issues facing us. Join us as we learn to BE the body of Christ!
